For switchgear manufacturers

More space in
every
panel.

Our current and voltage sensors for switchgears replace conventional instrument transformers in medium and low voltage switchgear. Compact, lightweight, and a few variants cover many applications.

Your challenge

What keeps you busy today

Limited space

Panels keep getting smaller. Conventional transformers take up room you could use for something else.

Too many variants

Many ratios mean many part numbers, long lead times and full warehouses.

Operational safety

Open secondary circuits on current transformers put people and equipment at risk.

Digital grids

Utilities ask for precise measurement data for smart grid and automation applications.

Integration

Where our sensors go

01In the T-connector

Voltage measurement right at the cable connection, with no separate metering panel. Compact enough for ring main units and secondary substations

02At the busbar

Support insulator with integrated voltage sensor. It replaces the conventional support insulator and saves space in the panel.

03Around the cable or bushing

Current and earth-fault measurement with ring or split-core sensors. Split-core versions can be retrofitted without modification.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can your sensors replace conventional instrument transformers?

Yes. Our low-power voltage and current sensors to IEC 61869-1, -10 and -11 are designed to replace conventional transformers in medium voltage switchgear. They need less space and weigh less, and one sensor covers several ratings. All our sensors are passive and need no power supply. Our cone-type voltage sensors are no longer than a standard blind plug, so they fit into the T-connector without taking up extra space.

Which voltage levels do your sensors cover?

Our cone-type voltage sensors cover 12, 17.5 and 24 kV with a single sensor (U240 series), and 36 kV with the U360 series. For air-insulated switchgear, our support insulators with integrated voltage sensor are available for 12, 24 and 36 kV.

Which T-connectors are your cone-type sensors compatible with?

Our cone-type voltage sensors to IEC 61869-1 and -11 fit the most common deadbreak T-connectors on the market. All Type C cones comply with EN 50181.

Can I connect your sensors to my existing protection relays?

Our sensors provide low-power output signals according to IEC 61869-1, -10 and -11. Relays with low-power sensor inputs can process these signals directly. If your relay does not have such inputs, our amplifiers and burden converter adapt the sensor signal to your relay. Not sure which option fits your relay? Contact us and we will check it for you.

Can current sensors be installed in existing switchgear?

Yes. Our split-core current sensors open up and fit around installed cables without disconnecting them. Ring-type sensors are mounted on the bushing or slid over the cable during installation.
